IoTMADLab participated in AIOTI Days 2025, held on 22 and 23 September at the Madrid Association of Quantity Surveyors.

The meeting, which brought together international experts in artificial intelligence, IoT, edge computing and smart cities, focused on how technologies such as AI, digital twins and the continuum are transforming the urban model towards the so-called City 5.0.
The event was opened by Antonio García de la Paz (S.G. of the Date Strategy of the Digital Office of Madrid City Council), who stressed the importance of the Madrid, Digital Capital strategy as a driver for innovation and sustainability in the city, highlighting the role of IoTMADLab as a leading hub in this process.
In the first session, ‘Smarter IoT: Energy, Connectivity & Real-World Impact’, Asunción Santamaría (Director of IoTMADLab) shared the laboratory’s vision of how smart connectivity and IoT-based solutions enable progress towards more efficient, interoperable and people-centred urban models.
The day continued with the session ‘Cities 5.0: A Human Adaptive City – Forward to an open and interoperable cities’, in which Guillermo del Campo (Polytechnic University of Madrid) and Juan Jesús Muñoz Esteban (Madrid City Council) participated. Both highlighted the importance of cities as living spaces for innovation, where collaboration between universities, administrations and companies is key to building open, sustainable urban ecosystems capable of adapting to new technologies.
This session is part of the Madrid, Digital Capital Strategy, which promotes the city’s innovative ecosystem and the creation of digital solutions to improve citizens’ quality of life.
